Melanie Jayne Lynskey
Melanie Jayne Lynskey, born 16 May 1977,
is a New Zealand actress. She is well-known for quirky, soft-spoken, but strong
characters. She is mostly in independent films. Her accolades include the New
Zealand Film Award, a Hollywood Film Award and a Sundance Special Jury Award,
along with Gotham Award, Golden Nymph Award Critics' Choice Award, and Screen
Actors Guild Award nominations. Lynskey made her film debut , playing a teenage
murderess in Peter Jackson's Heavenly Creatures (1994). After making the move
to the United States in 1994, Lynskey forged a career playing supporting roles
in a wide range of high-budget and smaller-scale productions, including Ever
After (1998) and Detroit Rock City and But I'm a Cherleader (both 1999), Coyote
Ugly (2000), Abandon and Sweet Home Alabama (1902), Shattered Glass (2003) and
Flags of Our Fathers (2006). Lynskey's lead role in I Must Go I Must Go (2012)
received critical acclaim and also being nominated for the Gotham Award for
Breakthrough Performer. It was a pivotal point in her career. Her subsequent
lead roles included Happy Christmas, We'll Never Have Paris, Goodbye to All
That (all 2014), The Intervention, Rainbow Time, Little Boxes (all 2016) I'm
Not at Home in This World Anymore, And Then I Go (both 2017), Sadie (2018) and
Lady of the Manor (2021) have established her as an established figure within
the American independent film scene. Lynskey's performance as Rose in CBS The
sitcom Two and a Half Men (1903-2015) was a huge hit. From 2015 to 2016she was
a character on Michelle Pierson on the HBO series Togetherness, for which she
was nominated for the 2015 Critics' Choice Television Award for the Best
Supporting Actress. Megan, as well as Beatrice in the Cartoon Network's Over
the Garden Wall (2014) as their voices. (2016-2018). She was a part of Molly
Strand's first season on Hulu (2018) as well as Rosemary Thomson was her role
in Mrs. America (2020).
