Bonnie Wright

Bonnie Francesca Wright (born 17 February 1991) is an English model, actress director, activist, and actress. Her most well-known role is that of Ginny Weasley who is the Harry Potter film series's main character. Born in London, Wright portrayed the role for ten consecutive years until she was selected to appear as the character in Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part II (2011). Wright appeared in several independent films after the show. The films received met with mixed reviews. In 2013, she made her stage debut in Peter Ustinov’s The Moment of Truth at the Southwark Playhouse. She also obtained a bachelor's degree in filmmaking at the University of the Arts London. After graduating from the university of the Arts in London in 2012, she started creating short films through the production company BonBonLumiere. Her first directed project was the coming of age drama Separate We Come. Separate We We Go (2012). This film premiered at the Cannes Film Festival to high reviews. Wright also directed Know Thyself (2016) starring Christian Coulson and Sextant (2016). Both films explored emotions and landscapes as the main themes. Wright's three-part series Phone Calls premiered at Tribeca Film Festival 2017. The film was released in Medusa's Ankles (2018) starring Kerry Fox and Jason Isaacs which is inspired by A. S. Byatt's The Matisse Stories. She has directed music videos for musicians Sophie Lowe, Pete Yorn, as well as Scarlett Johansson. Wright is an ambassador for Greenpeace, Lumos and has received recognition for her environmental advocacy.
