Maureen O'Hara Biography
Maureen O'Hara, an American actor and singer with Irish origin was a well-known celebrity. Her fiery, passionate performances she appeared in myriad of American films were well-loved by the beautiful green-eyed beauty sporting fiery hair and flaming eyes. Her glamour and beauty were awe-inspiring. Her name was also known as the 'Queen of Technicolor and was a household name in Hollywood. Her character on screen was a reflection of her own strong, courageous spirit, fighting for respect and survival in the world of males. She was always a "tough Irish lass" who did not compromise her reputation and respect to land the roles she deserved through merit. She stood up to injustices and unjust treatment of female actors throughout her film career. She also gained numerous supporters. The autobiography she wrote, "Tis herself", was published in 2004 and provided an honest review of her life and the challenges she faced in her climb to success. She was an adventurous person who did not hesitate to carrying out her own stunts. In the course of her career she was in more than 60 films and gained a lot of popularity throughout the world. In the wake of Parra and remarried in 1968 with Charles F. Blair Jr. who was a former brigadier and chief pilot and a pioneer in transatlantic aviation, just to mention a few achievements. In the early years of their marriage, she decided to quit her job. However, her happiness was not long-lasting since Blair was killed in a fatal plane crash in 1978. In the same year , she was diagnosed with uterine carcinoma and required urgent surgery. She was able to recover eventually. After that, her health declined and she suffered six heart attacks, short-term memory loss and diabetes mellitus type 2. O'Hara, at 95 years of age, died peacefully in Boise (Idaho) on 24 October 2015.
